PocketPills is seeking an experienced VP of Finance to lead the finance team in Surrey, BC.   This role is integral to our rapid growth and expansion. Ideal candidate for this role should have a growth mindset and experience in scaling complex businesses. This individual would also have a track record of developing the framework for the finance organization and building dashboards, modeling financial forecasts and creating best practices for corporate reporting.  They will directly manage a team of 5, including accounting, controller, FPA and payroll.

The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with over 10 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience in a rapidly growing start-up environment. This person would roll up their sleeves when needed to get things done.

This role reports to the Co-Founder and CEO and is part of the PocketPills Senior Leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directing all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Analyzing company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
  • Providing strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.
  • Developing and coordinating all relationships with lending/financial institutions.
  • Lead financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Create and manage all financial dashboards and KPI tools.
  • Drive preparation of tax schedules, returns and information. Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, provincial, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
  • Interact with and present to investors and board of directors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA/ CMA / MBA preferred.
  • 10 plus years of managerial accounting and financial management experience.
  • Experience working in a growing start-up environment.
  • Recent experience scaling a finance operation to over in annual revenues.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in a technology company
  • Proven experience driving forecasts and planning in ambiguous or high growth settings
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with dynamic priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently (without direct supervision) and efficiently manage tasks and timelines.
  • Experience with ERP implementation
  • IPO experience is a big positive.
